Eating and Drinking

There is a good selection of restaurants, cafés, bars and ice cream parlours in Stari Grad, all only a stroll away from the villa. All have outside tables either on the quayside or in the atmospheric lanes of the Old Town.

There are many excellent local red and white wines, also rakias. Limonade is made from the juice of fresh lemons.

Some of our favourite restaurants and bars are:
Stari Grad -
Antika or Stari Mlin

In other towns, restaurants and bars that are worth the trip include:
Hvar town - Macondo and Jaksa. Carpe Diem is perhaps the most well known bar in Croatia. Next door drink cocktails and people-watch at Hotel Riva
Jelsa - Nono's and Pelagio
Milna - A pretty seaside village halfway between Stari Grad and Hvar town where you can sit literally on the water
Vrboska - Pizzeria Škojić
Humac - In a magical setting in a deserted stone village on the spine of the island, about 5km east of Jelsa, just off the main road. It has garden seating and sensational views over Hvarski Kanal to the island of Brač
Palmižana - A delightful restaurant run by the Meneghello family on an island off Hvar town (from which it is reached by taxi boat)
